Dexter: Original Sin (S1)

Campaign Overview

Dexter: Original Sin is the prequel to Dexter, set in 1991 Miami as a young Dexter Morgan begins to confront his violent impulses and learn the “Code” under the watch of his adoptive father, Harry. Created and showrun by Clyde Phillips, the series tracks Dexter’s earliest forensics training at Miami Metro, the first kills that test his rules, and formative bonds with Debra and key future colleagues.

Patrick Gibson leads as Dexter, joined by Christian Slater as Harry and Molly Brown as Debra. The 10-episode season premiered December 13, 2024 on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME, produced by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios.

Campaign Hooks

Becoming Dexter

The campaign frames this as the moment the “Code” is forged. We spotlight a conflicted teen scientist-in-the-making—microscope in one hand, darkness in the other—using split-frame compositions, diary-style copy, and Harry’s rules as graphic devices. Key art and motion builds underscore firsts: first urge, first crime scene, first rule broken. It’s an origin myth with heat and consequence—inviting audiences to witness the birth of America’s most infamous antihero.

Made In Miami

A sultry love letter to 1991 Miami—humid nights, sun-bleached days, sodium streetlights on wet asphalt. We lean into pastel hotels, Everglades edges, and bayfront neon as character. Palette runs teal-to-citrus; typography nods to art-deco grids. Sound-on teasers use surf, cicadas, and distant sirens. The hook positions place as destiny—Dexter’s hometown as the crucible that tempers his code.

Rewind to ’91

Nostalgia with teeth: pagers, Polaroids, tube TVs, and lab benches lit by flicker. We use analog interface motifs—tape counters, time-stamped stills, dot-matrix labels—as design language across OOH, socials, and platform cards. Color grades skew warm, grainy, and slightly overexposed; copy riffs on “rewind to the first cut.” The vibe is 90s tactile authenticity that makes a new story feel instantly iconic.
